Molto italiano. Molto rosso. Molto bella? Sì!

What do they say?

Savour a capsule that encompasses the Italian lifestyle. Imagine enjoying the balance between dried fruit and soft chocolate in Venice, or in a tiny Tuscan country village.

The no-nonsense version, please?

Lavazza, the instantly recognisable name, have packaged up their famous coffee into little Nespresso compatible pods. They taste more or less the same as making a reasonable espresso with the regular off-the-shelf ground coffee from the same company. If you like Lavazza Rossa, then these pods are for you. If not, avoid. It's as simple as that.

For those unfamiliar with the flavour of Lavazza's offering, the best I can do is describe it as enjoyably dry, like a crisp white wine. There is most definitely a time and a place for this pod in anyone's Nespresso collection. With the obligatory half teaspoon of sugar, this becomes an even more pleasurable shot of nicely balanced coffee, especially when accompanied by a little chocolate treat.

I'm going to go along with Coffee Judge's review here, this is a good coffee and available at a reasonable price too (£3.50/10 pods seems to be the standard price in the UK - although I managed to get 30 for £8.25 on Amazon, this offer appears unavailable at the time of writing).

Should I buy it?

Sure, especially if you find it on offer. Good post-prandial coffee with the added bonus of a rather sexy-looking pod, too.

  • Absolutely!

  • Yeah, why not?

  • Worth a punt, but don't put yourself out.

  • Only if the alternative is dishwater. In fact, try the dishwater first, anyway.

What did Bruno McSwan-Neck, Editor-at-Large of The Coffee Courier say about it?

Bruno is still on vacation, sampling the variety of fancy coffee drinks in the Hamptons.
